On December 9, Shaanxi Yulin Energy Chemical Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group, launched the 400 000 t/a coal-to-ethylene glycol project, marking the completion and commissioning of the first coal chemical project independently constructed by the group.

The project utilizes the indirect conversion of syngas method to produce polyester-grade ethylene glycol, and the annual operating hours of the product are 7 200 hours. In addition to the main product, ethylene glycol, the project also yields by-products such as dimethyl carbonate (DMC), ethanol, sulfur, and others. At present, all products have been successfully produced. The ethylene glycol products produced this time fully comply with the national polyester grade ethylene glycol product standards and will be supplied to well-known enterprises in Shandong, Hebei, Zhejiang and other provinces and regions.
