Four departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, etc. recently issued the 'Plan to Upgrade Textile Industry (2023-2025)', in an attempt to make substantial progress in constructing modernized textile industry system, and increase the output of some products (e.g. high-performance fiber, high-end textile equipment and textiles used in strategic industries) to basically meet domestic demand, both by 2025.

The plan calls for strengthening R&D in new fiber materials, functional textiles, intelligent manufacturing equipment, etc. Other requirements of the plan mainly include expanding application areas of industrial textiles.
