In the first half of 2022, China’s non-financial OFDI (outward foreign direct investment) was up 0.8% YoY to RMB351.67 billion, with investment in countries along the Belt and Road taking up 18.5%, equivalent to US$10.03 billion, up 4.7% YoY, according to data the Ministry of Commerce issued recently.

Different from the past when industries like manufacturing, transportation, wholesale and retail were main targets of investment, domestic investors increased input in construction, scientific research and technical service sectors in H1, a sign that outward investment areas are becoming more diversified.
