On June 20, CNPC signed cooperative documents with QatarEnergy on Qatar's North Field East LNG expansion project in Doha. Under the agreement, QatarEnergy will supply CNPC 4 million tons of LNG a year for 27 years and transfer CNPC 1.25% shares in the project.

It is reported that Qatar is the world's top LNG exporter, with its North Field being the largest single gas reservoir. The expansion project includes gas field development and the construction of four LNG production lines, with a production capacity of 8 million t/a. After put into operation, the project will produce an additional LNG production capacity of 32 million t/a, enabling Qatar's annual LNG export capacity to 110 million tons.
