300 000 T/A Potassium Nitrate Project Kicks off in Xinjiang     

On December 2nd, Sinkiang Nitrate Minerals Co., Ltd. laid a foundation for the construction of the first phase 300 000 t/a of its 1.2 million t/a potassium/sodium nitrate project in Shanshan county of Xinjiang region.
   The 300 000 t/a potassium/sodium nitrate project has an investment of RMB1.5 billion and construction is scheduled to be completed in 2012. At present, the company has already commenced operation of a 50 000 t/a test-run project, on which the company invest RMB270 million.
   Sinkiang Nitrate Minerals has planed a blueprint of constructing 3.0 million t/a potassium/sodium nitrate in Shanshan in the future, with a total investment of RMB12 billion.
   Potassium nitrate and sodium nitrate produced in the project can be used to manufacture fertilizer, nitric acid and other nitrogen compounds; it also can serve as strong oxidant in nickel smelting, clarificant in glass production and etc.
   Sinkiang Nitrate Minerals Co., Ltd. was established by Wanxiang Holding Corporation  in 2005, mainly engages in the production and sales of a series of natural nitrate products and in the development of specialty nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium fertilizers for cash crops.
