CECIC Signs Lake Water Treatment Agreement with Two Japanese Companies

China Energy Conservation Investment Corporation (CECIC) signed an agreement on the Cooperation Project of Controlling Pollution in China's Lakes with JGC Corporation and Marubeni Corporation in Japan.
According to the agreement, CECIC and JGC will as quickly as possible complete test and pilot of reducing pollution in Taihu Lake and jointly submit test reports to the Ministry of Environmental Protection or other Chinese governmental departments for approval and check. On the basis of test and pilot, along with Japan's seven year treatment experiences, a comprehensive treatment demonstration will be carried out in the lake, which includes treatment of the industrial and living sewage with high content of organics from the areas adjacent to the lake and recovery of natural water.
Presently China's sewage treatment capability lags well behind the economic growth, causing plenty of industrial waste water and living sewage to flow into the lake without any treatment. Along with the over use of chemical fertilizers, the concentration of nitrogen, phosphorus and other pollutants in lakes surpassed standards a lot.
