PetroChina Saw Stable Growth in the First Three Quarters of 2008      

On October 29th, PetroChina Company Limited (PetroChina, HK: 0857; NYSE: PTR; SH: 601857) posted the operating results for the first three quarters of 2008.
    Under the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), PetroChina reported an unaudited net profit attributable to its equity holders of RMB39.885 billion in the first three quarters of 2008, a year-on-year increase of 29.9%. EPS was RMB0.22, an increase of approximately RMB0.05 from the same period of last year. Under the China Accounting Standard for Business Enterprises, the company recorded an unaudited net profit attributable to its equity holders of RMB38.247 billion, a year-on-year increase of 31.8%. EPS was RMB0.21.
    In the first nine months of 2008, PetroChina produced 652.6 million barrels of crude oil, 1 368.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas, a year-on-year increase of 2.8% and 16.3% respectively.
    During January to September 2008, the company processed 642.5 million barrels of crude oil, up 5.1% year-on-year, and produced 55.597 million tons of gasoline, diesel and kerosene, up 4.6%. Meanwhile, PetroChina sold 70.25 million tons of gasoline, diesel and kerosene, up 9.3%.
    In the past nine months of 2008, the company produced 1.982 million tons of ethylene, 3.031 million tons of synthetic resin, 1.271 million tons of synthetic fiber raw materials and polymer, 251 thousand tons of synthetic rubber and 2.868 million tons of urea, up 4.8%, 4.7%, 15.1%, 7.7% and 2.6% respectively.
