China Supports Commercialization of High-Performance Fiber Composites      

The National Development and Reform Commission issued a document at the end of 2007 for a specific project - high-tech commercialization of high-performance fiber composites. Support will mainly be offered to the commercialization of technologies and key equipment for the production of high-performance carbon fibers, high-performance aramid fibers and super-strength PE fibers to meet the needs in the growing national economy and the development of high-tech sectors such as aviation and spaceflight sectors.
   The specific project is intended to break bottlenecks of key technologies in the development of high-performance fibers and composites, promote the technical upgrading and the development of related sectors, raise the level in the design, manufacturing and application of high-performance composites, construct a group of new industrial clusters and R&D bases with intellectual property right and innovation ability, foster a group of enterprises with international competitiveness and improve the ability of independent innovation in the new material sector.
