China's Trade Accounts for 7.7% of the World Total by 2007    

China's foreign trade ranked the third world wide in 2007 from the 29th in 1978, the proportion in the world's total trade was also up from 0.8% in 1978 to 7.7% in 2007, according to the National Bureau of Statistics announced on October 27th.
    The proportion of the China's economic total amount in the world was also increased from 1.8% in 1978 to 6% in 2007.
   During the past 30 years, the international competitiveness of the foreign trade in China has remarkably enhanced. In the total export value, the proportion of the export value of industrial finished goods was up from 49.7% in 1980 to 94.9% in 2007 whereas the proportion of the export value of primary products mainly including foods and agricultural/sideline products was down from 50.3% in 1980 to 5.1% in 2007. The imports of mechanical/electric products and high/new technological products have increased rapidly while the proportion of the import value of primary products is down.
    China has increased constantly the foreign capital utilization. The foreign direct investment (FDI) was US$760.2 billion during 1979 to 2007, being US$26.2 billion a year on average. FDI has held the third place in the world ever since 2002. FDI (non-financial part) was US$2.9 billion in 2003, US$5.5 billion in 2004, US$12.3 billion in 2005, US$17.6 billion in 2006 and US$18.7 billion in 2007.
   China's GDP rose by 9.8% annually from 1979 to 2007 on average, much higher than the average global GDP growth of 3.0% in the same period.
   In the past 30 years the GDP place of China in the world was increased from the 10th to the 4th, next to the United States, Japan and Germany. China's GDP was US$3 280.1 billion in 2007, equivalent to 23.7% of the United States', 74.9% of Japan's and 99.5% of Germany's, which were up 17.2 percentage points, 59.7 percentage points and 78.9 percentage points respectively than 1978.
   The per-capita national total income was increased from US$190 in 1978 to US$2 360 in 2007.
