Momentive Introduces SAG 638 Emulsion

Momentive Performance Materials introduced SAG 638, a new
silicone antifoam emulsion. The product, designed specifically
for foam control in aqueous system, excels in applications
requiring excellent knock down and durability. Remarkably small
concentration sharply reduces foam created and hence cuts down
processing time and permits maximum production capacity. SAG 638
emulsion shows excellent durability in both non-ionic and
anionic surfactant systems, and performs well in strong acid and
alkaline conditions. The product demonstrates very good
dispersibility in the foaming media.
SAG 638 emulsion is an excellent candidate for general
antifoam purposes, such as textile sizing and finishing, water
treatment system, agrochemical formulations, adhesive and glue
manufacturing, pulp antifoam, and other chemical specialty
formulations.
Compared to conventional antifoam agents, SAG 638 emulsion
reduces the foam collapse time down to 40% at maximum and its
effect endures approximately 3 times longer. Generally only a
very low concentration of 50 to 100 ppm of SAG 638 emulsion is
sufficient to suppress foams.  SAG 638 emulsion also performs
well in wide pH application range from 3 to 13. These key features
of SAG 638 emulsion help achieve economical ways to develop
foam-free formulations.
SAG 638 emulsion was developed at Momentive's Singapore Lab
and is mainly targeted to Asia Pacific market.
