Clariant Showcases Innovative Protection for Transportation
Industry

On April 3rd to 5th, 2007 at the JEC 2007 held in Paris, France
Clariant showcased a large product portfolio for composite
applications, focusing on railway and transportation. Products
include the innovative Exolit (r ) flame retardants,
high-performance organic pigments, waxes, light stabilizers,
antioxidants, as well as tutoProm (r ), a permanent
anti-graffiti coatings for railway vehicles.
TutoProm (r ) from Clariant is an anti-graffiti system for
railway interiors and exteriors. It features good UV resistance
and is also resistant to most cleaning agents, organic solvents,
or brake fluids. Exolit (r ) OP is a trailblazing product series
for the effective fire protection of polyamides and polyesters.
In addition to glass reinforced polyamides and polyester, its
main areas of application, the new generation of flame
retardants has also shown its effectiveness in circuit boards.
Exolit (r ) AP is a flame retardant system based on ammonium
polyphosphate (AP). Exolit (r ) RP, a flame retardant system
based on red phosphorus, has established itself in Europe for
the fire protection of GF polyamides. Compared to conventional
non-halogenated flame retardants, when using Exolit (r ) AP or
Exolit (r ) RP in combination with aluminum trihydrate, the
amount of the filler can be reduced by up to 70 percent,
especially in thermoset compound systems.
