ANGUS Offers AMP Products & DOW Biocides Introduces THPS
Molecule

On March 16, 2007 ANGUS Chemical Company (ANGUS), a wholly-owned
subsidiary of the Dow Chemical Company, offered customers in the
paints and coatings, personal care and metal working fluid
markets the opportunity to replace raw materials and lower
overall costs by using the multifunctional additive: AMP-95TM
(2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol). "AMP is the neutralizing amine
that can add many benefits to formulations without compromising
the final product, including lower overall cost as less products
is needed to achieve the same results as other products available
in the market. AMP can be used to enhance rheology modifier
performance in their formulations, as a coispersant it can add
gloss or opacity, or improve color stability," said Vincent Zeng,
regional commercial director for ANGUS.
AMP can offer many benefits to applications in different
markets: in personal care, paints and coatings and in metal
working fluids and in water treatment.
On the same day Dow Biocides, a business unit of The Dow
Chemical Company, has introduced THPS (tetrakis (hydroxymethyl)
phosphonium sulfate), a widely used antimicrobial for water
treatment applications, to its product portfolio. The addition
of THPS follows the addition of CMIT/MIT preservative to the Dow
portfolio in 2006.
AQUCAR THPS 75 is particularly effective against
sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB), which are often problematic in
enhanced oil recovery operations like injection water treatment,
top-side systems, pipeline protection and storage. It can be
used in both acid and alkaline environments, has outstanding
stability and is readily biodegradable. It is released that with
AQUCAR THPS 75, Dow offers customers a highly efficient biocide
that has solid antimicrobial efficacy and excellent
compatibility with most water treatment chemicals.
