Explosion in a Chemical Plant in Shanxi
On March 2nd, 2007 a private chemical plant got exploded in
Hongdong county, Linfen, Shanxi province. The accident caused
4 deaths and 1 injury.
    According to an official of Shanxi Provincial Safety
Production Supervision Bureau, this chemical plant is likely to
be a refinery with waste light oil after coal tar processing as
the raw material.

Explosion in CNPC Lanzou Petrochemical
On February 6th, 2007 the tower kettle heat exchanger H-125D of
the 45 000 t/a T-112A unit exploded and caught fire at the C4
workshop in Sythetic Rubber Plant of CNPC Lanzhou Petrochemical
Co., Ltd. located in Xigu District, Lanzhou, Gansu province. The
explosion resulted in six injuries.

Thionyl Chloride Leakage in Chongqing
On February 28th, 2007 leakage took place at the thionyl chloride
store unit of Guanjialin Chemical Warehouse located in Jiulongpo
District, Chongqing. It is released that the explosion was
caused by the leakage of the tank bottom during removing. The
workers wrongly used water to dilute thionyl chloride, but
thionyl chloride reacted with water to give off large amounts
of sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide, which made the situation
much worse.
