Fire in a Pharmaceutical & Chemical Company in Jiangsu
On October 14th, 2006, a fire suddenly broke out in a
pharmaceutical & chemical company in Huangtu Town of Jiangyin,
Jiangsu province. Thanks to the emergency evacuation, no one
injured.
    According to the preliminary investigation, the fire
resulted from intermediate sodium methoxide, which is so
sensitive once exposes to the open air that it may conduct
spontaneous ignition when the oxygen content reaches a certain
high. Some worker may break the material bag during the removal
process. The accident has caused pollution to the local air
quality.

Ammonia Leakage in FCPC in Hubei
On October 12th, 2006, ammonia leakage happened in Hubei Fuchi
Chemical & Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.(FCPC) located in Yangxin
county of Wuhan, Hubei province, which made more than 230 people
get poisoned. The leakage accident happened at FCPC No. 2
Pharmaceutical Plant due to the overwhelming pressure in an
ammonia high pressure tank. Sulfate fluid material with 25%
ammonia content rushed out of the outlet pipe.
   The plant has stopped production today. The leading products
of FCPC include taurine, sodium silicon flouride, dimethyl
sulfate, phosphatic fertilizer, compound fertilizer series.

Explosion in a Bitumen Agitation Plant in Jiangsu
On October 7th, 2006, an explosion broke out in a bitumen
agitation plant in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province. The accident
caused 2 injuries.
   It is said that when the 2 casualties were preparing to repair
some equipment, the spark caused during the welding operation
lit the oil tank around to explode.
