300 000 T/A Polyester Process Package Passes Evaluation


The 300 000 t/a polyester process package jointly developed by
Shanghai Petrochemical Company Ltd. (SPC) and China Textile
Academy passed the evaluation organized by Sinopec on July 25th,
2006.
   The process package uses the process flow of centralized
esterification and dispersed polycondensation and therefore
features large single-line scale, flexible operation and
adjustable production. It can meet the requirements in the
production of different polyester products such as fiber-grade
and film-grade varieties and serve as a basis for the engineering
design of 300 000 t/a polyester three-tower process units. It
reaches an esterification capacity of 300 000 t/a through adding
a pre-polycondensation reactor and a post-polycondensation
reactor on the basis of the 150 000 t/a polyester three-tower
process unit in SPC. Both the production cost and the consumption
are effectively reduced.
   It is reported that the Polyester Fiber Division of SPC owns
the first 150 000 t/a polyester three-tower process unit in China.
The unit conducted successful wet commissioning in September
2004 and quite a few new technologies for energy conservation
and consumption reduction have been used in the unit.
