Linalool Unit Completed and Put into Operation
  A 1 000 t/a linalool unit  using  the  acetylene- acetone
process has been  completed  and  put  into  operation  in
  Southwest  Research  and  Design  Institute  of  Chemical
Industry.
Linalool is a basic raw material  for  pharmaceuticals  and
daily chemicals.  The  development  of  cosmetics,   daily
chemicals and perfumes has brought about a fast increasing
demand of linalool in China. The  domestic  production  of
linalool was made from turpentine in the past. It was hard
to make large scale production due to  the  constraint  in
raw material supply. The product purity was not high either.
Great amounts had to be imported from abroad to  meet  the
domestic demand.
