Third Phase Project of Daqing Petrochemical
         General Plant Completed and Put on Stream
The third phase project  of  Daqing  Petrochemical  General
Plant is completed and put on stream. The  project  has  a
total investment of 2.595 billion yuan.
The purpose of the project is to  use  ethylene,   benzene,
butadiene and acrylonitrile made in  Daqing  Petrochemical
General Plant as  raw  materials  to  produce  high- grade
polystyrene and ABS. The project includes  a  60  000  t/a
styrene unit, a 25 000 t/a polystyrene unit, a 50 000  t/a
ABS unit, utility stations and ancillary  facilities,   32
items all together. Key  equipment  and  technologies  are
imported from the United States, Germany and  Korea.   The
fixed asset value is 2.469 billion yuan.   In  the  months
from January to October this year 45 500 tons of  styrene,
17 000 tons of polystyrene and 25 600  tons  of  ABS  were
already produced.
