Localized Formic Acid Unit Using Hydrolysis
                      Process Starts Production
The first formic acid unit by hydrolysis of methyl  formate  developed,
designed and constructed by China itself is recently completed and put
into operation in Luonan Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd. (former  Luonan
No. 2 Petrochemical Plant). The first batch  of  high  quality  formic
acid with a purity of 99.9% has already been put in market.
The project has an investment of 80 million yuan and  is  developed  in
collaboration with Shandong Design Institute of Chemical Industry  and
No. 2 Design Institute of the Ministry of Chemical Industry. The  unit
has made successful wet commissioning at the first try. More than  90%
of the equipment is manufactured in China.
