            Beijing Dayuan and DuPont Form Joint Venture

Beijing,China,May 14th,1998.The DuPont Com-pany and Beijing Dayuan  Non
-woven Fabric Co.,Ltd.jointly announced that  the  two  companies  have
formed a new joint venture,DuPont-Dayuan Nonwovens Fabric Co.,Ltd. The
new joint venture will produce rayon  and  polyester- based  spunlaced
fabrics to serve China and the Asia-Pacific region.
The joint venture business,which will be based just outside of  Beijing
,China,will be 50% owned by DuPont and  50%  owned  by  BeiJing  Dayuan
.DuPont-Dayuan will be led by BeiJing Wei,who  will  serve  as  General
Manager.Mr.Wei presently serves as President and Chairman of the board
of  Beijing Dayuan.DuPont will represent  the  joint  venture  in  the
marketplace.
The joint venture blends  Beijing  Dayuan's  ability  to  produce  high
quality/low cost spunlaced  fabrics  with  DuPont's  strong  marketing
skills and world-wide technological leadership in nonwovens.
Beijing Dayuan began in 1991 with a thermal bond business.Its  spunlace
line started up in 1994 and was upgraded for capacity and  quality  in
1996.It is  regarded  by  experts  as  the  highest  quality  spunlace
manufacturing line in the Asia-Pacific  region. In  1997, the  Beijing
Dayuan facility became the first Chinese major nonwovens  manufacturer
to receive ISO 9000 series certification.
