Biggest Hydrogen Dioxide Project Starts Construction
China biggest and most advanced hydrogen dioxide project with  an  investment
of 500 million yuan from Shanghai Haosi  Chemical  Industrial  Co.   started
construction on March 20.
Hydrogen dioxide is  mainly  used  in  chemical  processing,   paper  making,
textiles and environmental protection. The demand is increasing  rapidly  in
the domestic market. The hydrogen dioxide unit to be  constructed  will  use
hydrogen from the coal gasification project of Shanghai Coking Co.   as  raw
material and make the production with the world advanced process  introduced
from abroad. The product will have different concentrations of 27.5%,   35%,
50% and 70%, and  requirements  of  different  customers  can  therefore  be
satisfied. The project will start production in August 1999 and will produce
33 000 tons of hydrogen dioxide (100%) a year.
