 40 000 T/A POM Project in Xinjiang

A 40 000 t/a POM (polyoxymethylene) project started construction in Kuche County, Akzu, Xinjiang on Aug. 26.     The project jointly funded by Dalian Wantai International Trade Co., Ltd., Dalian Ruilong Investment Group Co., Ltd. and Xinjiang United Chemical Co., Ltd. with an investment of RMB1.27 billion is another petrochemical project in Kuche Industry Zone to fully utilize rich natural gas in Akzu.     The proejct will use the world advanced equipment and technologies from Switzerland and Poland. After the start of production, the project will have a capacity of 100 000 t/a methanol, 120 000 t/a formaldehyde and 40 000 t/a POM. The sales revenue will reach more than RMB700 million and the profit will be RMB300 million. The project can not only promote the rapid development of economy in Akzu but also ease the supply shortage of POM in the domestic market.     POM is a thermoplastic resin with excellent comprehensive property. It can be extensively used to replace metallic materials such as iron, steel, copper and aluminum and other plastics. The output of POM in China is only around 10 000 tons, but the demand is around 140 000 tons. There is a supply shortage in the market. No production of POM is made in Xinjiang and even the whole northwestern region.
