Tetrafluoroethane Refrigerant Base Starts Production

The tetrafluoroethane refrigerant base established by Jiangsu Contake Fluorine Chemical Co., Ltd. in Jintan, Jiangsu province has recently started production.     According to the provisions stipulated in the “Kyoto Protocol”, industrialized countries will restrict the discharge of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and methane during the period from 2008 to 2012. As refrigerant freon will damage the ozonosphere, its use will be restricted. Tetrafluoroethane is an environmental protection refrigerant to replace freon. It has no toxicity, no combustion, no explosion, good heat stability, stable chemical property and no ozonosphere damage. Jiangsu Contake Fluorine Chemical Co., Ltd. has put RMB200 million in the research of tetrafluoroethane and finally developed the product after 4 years’ strenuous efforts. The company has established a modern large production base in Jintan this year to mainly produce new environmental protection refrigerants without ODS. The comprehensive output reaches 30 000 tons a year.
