Polycarbonate Project Starts Construction in Tongling

The 3 000 t/a totally non-phosgene process polycarbonate project has recently started construction in Tongling Jintai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. The construction and debugging of the production unit is expected to be completed before the end of 2005.      Polycarbonate has extensive application sectors. The polycarbonate production in China mostly uses phosgene as raw material. The process is outdated and can not meet the environmental protection requirements. The unit in Tongling Jintai takes diphenyl carbonate produced by the company itself as synthesis raw material and uses the advanced ester exchange process. The total investment of the project is RMB34 million. After the production reaches the design capacity, the sales revenue will increase RMB73.0 million and the after-tax profit will be RMB7.0 million a year.
