To halt the rise of carbon emissions by 2030, China will construct 100 pilot cities and chemical parks, according to National Carbon-peaking Pilot Construction Plan the National Development and Reform Commission issued on November 6.

In pilot areas, policy mechanisms to support green development will be basically established, reform experiences will be gathered and cities and parks with different resources, development foundations and industrial structures will find own ways to achieve carbon peak target, all by 2025.

In 2030, pilot cities and parks will make remarkable progress in green development, complete key tasks, and play a big role in making the nation’s emissions reach a peak as scheduled. Further, policy mechanisms favorable to low-carbon development will be fully established in pilot regions, which will become a solid foundation for realizing carbon neutrality.
