China's first million-ton and hundred-kilometer dense-phase CO2 transmission pipeline within high-pressure, normal-temperature—the CO2 pipeline of Qilu Petrochemical-Shengli Oilfield Million-ton CCUS Project was officially put into operation, according to Sinopec Shengli Oilfield. It marks China's first realization of long-distance dense-phase CO2 transmission pipeline and is of great significance to promote the large-scale development of China's carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) industry chain.

With a total length of 109 kilometers, the pipeline can transport 1.7 million tons of CO2 captured by Qilu Petrochemical Co., Ltd. to the underground oil reservoir at Shengli Oilfield for oil displacement and storage every year. It will act as a leading role in the large-scale CO2 pipeline transportation in China. The pipeline transportation of CO2 has obvious advantages in terms of transportation scale, cost and social benefits, and it is the first choice for large-scale, long-distance and low-cost transportation on land. The project has overcome 3 core technologies, and developed 2 key equipment, the liquid CO2 booster pump of pipeline delivery and the high-efficiency CO2 injection pump in dense phase.
