On October 9, the National Bureau of Statistics issued Plan to Improve Energy Standards to Help Energy Industry Reach Carbon Emission Peak and Carbon Neutrality, setting forth several targets – e.g. establishing a renewable energy standard system focusing on PV and wind power, making a group of standards related to emerging technologies and industrial chain carbon emission reduction technologies, improving existing standards regarding conventional sources of energy (in the aspect of energy efficiency of transportation and utilization for example), etc.

The document calls for preliminarily establishing an energy standard system by 2025, an effective tool to help energy firms conduct low-carbon transition and technical innovation. By 2030, the system will be improved, and become a strong support for the energy industry to reach carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality.
