The National Energy Administration recently issued Guiding Opinions on Accelerating Establishment of New Energy Standard System (Exposure Draft) to establish new standard system firstly in emerging areas like intelligent energy, energy Internet, wind power, solar power generation, biomass energy, hydrogen energy, etc. Technical base and related supervision will both be strengthened.

The document calls for increasing quantity and improving quality of group standards in the areas of new technologies (related to new energy, electrical equipment, etc.), and digital technology and energy integration (e.g. big data and blockchain). Some group standards will be phased out through market competition, and some will be turned into national or industrial standards via a conversion mechanism.
