China will supervise emission of VOCs from petrochemical enterprises or parks more stringently, according to Plan to Reduce Emission of VOCs in 2020 (Exposure Draft), made by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.

While meeting strict limit standards on products’ VOCs content, firms engaged in petrochemicals, chemicals, coal chemicals, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, etc. are required to make reasonable overhaul plans to decrease emission of VOCs under abnormal working conditions. In addition, facilities to collect or dispose VOCs will be replaced or upgraded if they fail to comply with related standards.

Investigation will be conducted in June in VOCs related industrial parks (engaged in petrochemicals, chemicals, etc.), enterprise clusters (involving 30 sectors like pesticides, coatings, chemical additives, etc.), and enterprises strictly supervised by the government. Other measures mainly include strengthening supervision on VOCs emission during storage, transportation and sales of gasoline, naphtha, kerosene, crude oil, etc.
