China decided to lower electricity prices by 5% from February 1 to June 30 (excluding high energy-consuming industries), and decrease natural gas prices (via adopting off-season prices, encouraging gas producers to communicate with consumers on price cut, etc.), the National Development and Reform Commission announced on February 22.
The decision aims to help enterprises combat against coronavirus and resume normal operation. Firms producing agriculture-related products like fertilizers are to enjoy more favorable gas prices. Related departments are to strengthen pipeline transportation, supervise prices and production of natural gas, and ensure stability of the natural gas market.
