In 2019, the nation issued 1 152 criteria on residue limits of pesticides and veterinary drugs. As for quality and safety of agricultural products, 97.4% of products passed routine monitoring.

The document calls for solving problems related to rural ecological environment via promoting utilization of livestock and poultry wastes, decreasing use of pesticides and fertilizers, reducing pollution of agricultural films, etc. Other measures mainly include utilizing straws, dealing with soil pollution and restoring soil.

R&D on key agricultural technologies is to be strengthened, and a group of technical projects are to be kicked off. Further, the government is to improve agricultural industrial technology systems, and speed up construction of agricultural technology innovation centers/demonstration zones.
