Shaanxi Yulin Energy and Chemical Materials held a kick-off meeting in Nanjing for the phase I 400 kt/a isothermal conversion device process package of its 1 200 kt/a coal-to-monoethylene glycol (MEG). The project has a total investment of RMB5.8 billion and is expected to come on stream in June 2020.   

   The project will use coal as raw material and produce syngas through coal gasification. Carbon monoxide and hydrogen are separated by gas purification, and dimethyl carbonate (DMC), crude ethanol, mixed alcohols, sulphur, liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen are synthesized by coupling hydrogenation.
