Heilongjiang Xinda Group kicked off constructions at its 300 kt/a (bio-based) composite materials project in Harbin New District. Covering an area of 132 600 square metres, the project has a total investment of RMB2.6 billion and will become the largest bio-based composites production base in China.

The bio-based composites will be produced through compounding processing of raw materials extracted from grain and straw, adopting the independently developed technology. It may consume 100 kt/a of straw after the project is put into production. The biodegradable plastic products can be turned into carbon dioxide and water after decomposition and will be used in green packaging industries for food and drug.
