Relocation and reform of domestic hazardous chemical firms were better completed than expected, especially in Yangtze River Economic Zone, where 70% of targets have been completed, said Chen Kaimin, deputy director of Department of Raw Material Industry, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

There are two main difficulties in the next stage – enterprises lack of relocation fund and are hard to be accepted by chemical parks (due to limited space of parks, high entry threshold parks set, etc.). Relocated enterprises are wise to upgrade technologies, increase added value of products and adopt new ways to develop, Chen added. Meanwhile, chemical parks should improve infrastructures and capacities to accommodate more companies. In addition, for SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) with high technologies, financial institutions should provide more financing support.
