Xinjiang recently implemented Environmental Regulation for Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, the first of its kind in Xinjiang, detailing management measures regarding noise, solid wastes, pollution discharge, etc.

The document prohibits projects with high pollution, high energy consumption and high emission. It supports circular and low-carbon economy, clean production, and cooperation among enterprises in using resources and industrial wastes.

Zhundong E&T Development Zone is a large coal, coal power and coal chemical base in China. With the development of chemical, smelting and coal chemical industries, local environment (e.g. water and air) is polluted to a certain extent by waste gas, waste water, solid waste, ash and dust.
