Baofeng Energy recently announced that the latter part of the 600 kt/a coke gasification-based olefin project, the 600 kt/a methanol-to-polyolefin (PO) project was completed. According to the announcement, all units have achieved a successful test run and yielded on-spec polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) products. Upon the start-up of the project, the company will have 1 200 kt/a PO capacity (600 kt/a of PE and 600 kt/a of PP) and its PO output will double the current volume. 

   The total investment of the 600 kt/a coke gasification-based olefin project is RMB15.279 billion. It includes a 2 200 kt/a coke gasification-based methanol project and 600 kt/a methanol-to-PO project, as well as related public works. The whole project is expected to be completed and started up by the end of 2019.
