The State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) decided to abolish the investment quota restrictions for Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (QFII) Scheme and Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (RQFII) Scheme. This is to greatly facilitate foreign institutional investors with related qualifications to participate in the domestic financial market. Further, China’s bond and stock markets are to be better accepted by the global market, benefiting from the major reform.
Since the implementation of QFII Scheme in 2002 and RQFII Scheme in 2011, more than 400 institutional investors from 31 countries and regions have invested in China’s financial market. The SAFE is to deepen the reform of foreign exchange administration continually, and meanwhile reduce the risks of cross-border capital flows.
