On March 10, 2017, Symrise announced that two Symrise cosmetic ingredients received a PCHi Fountain Award: the anti-pollution material SymUrban (R) in the category “Active Ingredients” and the warming ingredient Thermolat (R) in the category “Functional Components.” In addition to the winning ingredients, the company presented a broad range of products at the trade show, Personal Care and Homecare Ingredients (PCHi) in Guangzhou, including cosmetic ingredients that help to protect skin from environmental pollution, to promote an even complexion and for sensitive skin care. The focus was also on the latest developments in preservatives for cosmetics.
Both awards mark a huge success for Symrise. “Winning an award in a PCHi competition is incredibly valuable for us because these awards are highly renowned in the cosmetics industry in China,” emphasized Chung Sin Wong, Vice President Symrise Cosmetic Ingredients Division Asia Pacific. “They honor the products that we have developed, and which we highlighted at the show in its full scope.” The awards were presented at the PCHi Industry Night on February 21, 2017, at the Langham Place Hotel in Ghangzhou.

Award-winning raw materials: Anti-pollution and warming skin care

Both winning ingredients particularly address the needs of consumers in Asian cities: SymUrban (R) helps maintain the skin’s natural balance, which can be affected by high air pollution levels. It can help neutralize the negative effects of particulate matter and protect the skin from environmental influences like exhaust fumes and emissions.
Thermolat (R) is an innovative sensorial agent that allows a pleasant warming effect on the skin. Compared to existing technologies, Thermolat (R) provides a controlled warming sensation and allows a significant reduction of the side effects like redness, burning, and stinging. “In Asia, the warming effect is synonymous with traditional massages, believed to boost blood flow and circulation. With Thermolat (R) we can address this deeply rooted Asian tradition with an ideal body sensation on the skin: It creates a warming effect without irritating the skin. Instead, it provides a relaxing effect,” said Chung Sin Wong, Vice President Symrise Cosmetic Ingredients Division Asia Pacific. “Now, consumers can integrate this sensation into their daily beauty regime.”

Trade show with products especially for the Chinese market

Symrise presented at PCHi 2017 ingredients for cosmetic products that provide care for skin in a particularly mild way. For the needs of sensitive skin, the company displayed Dragosantol (R) 100, SymSitive (R) 1609, SymRelief (R) 100, SymCalmin (R), SymCare (R) O and W2, as well as SymRepair (R) 100.
To provide effective protection from air pollution and intensive sunlight, Symrise highlighted the award-winning ingredient SymUrban (R) as well as the products Dragosine (R) and the Neo Heliopan (R) range.
Visitors looking for products that promote an even skin tone and complexion had the opportunity to get information about the products SymWhite (R) 377, Extrapone  (R) Tuber Magnatum GW and Biotive (R) Resveratrol. And finally, ways to preserve and support the product protection were presented with the Symrise ranges SymOcide (R), Hydrolite (R) and SymDiol (R).
“Symrise showed visitors a broad spectrum of ingredients for cosmetics and care products that specifically address the needs of Asian consumers,” said Chung Sin Wong, Vice President Symrise Cosmetic Ingredients Division Asia Pacific, at the end of the trade show. “The products take into account the desire to have an even complexion and to protect the skin from negative environmental influences in particular.”
PCHi is the largest trade show for cosmetic ingredients in China with roughly 500 exhibitors. It has long been considered a pioneering trade show for cosmetics and personal care for the region. In 2017, it was attended by roughly 15 000 visitors.
